In a new interview, former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson shared that he “always knew” his bandmate Harry Styles would go on to become a huge solo star. According to a new report, Styles has landed a second residency at Madison Square Garden.
Louis Tomlinson Talks About Bandmate Harry Styles
“There might be one or two people from a band that prosper, but history says there’s not normally more than two,” Louis Tomlinson said in an interview with Billboard. “I always knew Harry was going to go on to do what he’s done — I’m sure he’s superseded his own expectations in the way that he’s taken over the world, but we knew he’s got everything it takes to be a great artist.”
The singer added that he also had “a good feeling about” fellow One Direction star Niall Horan, who has gone on to release three solo albums and coach on The Voice. As Tomlinson said, “he’s Irish, he’s lovely, everyone loves him.”
However, Tomlinson admitted that he didn’t see himself as one of the band members who would make it big as a solo act, saying, “I was never thinking, ‘I’ll be in that group [of One Direction alumni] that succeeds.’”
Louis Tomlinson was the last of the original five One Direction members to release his debut solo album. The project, titled Walls, was released in 2020 following a difficult few years as the singer mourned the death of his mother and sister. His third album, How Did I Get Here?, is due to be released January 23.

Styles Is Reportedly Returning to Madison Square Garden
As rumors swirl that Harry Styles is planning to release a new album and possibly go on tour later this year, Page Six has reported that the former One Direction star has landed another residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Styles previously performed a sold-out, 15-night residency at the venue in 2022 as part of his Love On Tour. The new report does not specify exactly how long Styles’ second residency is expected to last.
It appears that Styles is definitely planning something, as he recently shared a video of his final Love On Tour show in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The video ends with a shot of the crowd and the words “We Belong Together.”
A website by the same name features the same crowd shot, leading fans to believe that “We Belong Together” is the title of Styles’ next project.
