Lizzo Releases New ‘Special’ Music Video
The music video, directed by Christian Breslauer, begins with a shot of Lizzo flying through the air with a cape and a mask. She arrives back home and gets into bed, but her alarm immediately makes her get up for her job at a diner.
Throughout the video, Lizzo saves a little girl from getting hit by a car, stops a woman from getting mugged, thwarts a robbery, and rescues a baby from a burning building. All the while, she sings on the track, “In case nobody told you today / You’re special / In case nobody made you believe / You’re special.”
On Instagram, Lizzo shared voice notes from when she was planning the video back in 2021. She can be heard describing a Black female superhero, adding that the country loves her when she’s a superhero, “but absolutely hates her as a human being.”
As the star wrote in the post’s caption, “This video is for any one who has felt unseen, alone, disrespected. I see you.”
