Each Song on Lizzo’s New Album Makes You Feel “Special” With Heartfelt Tunes
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Lizzo has officially released her album of the summer, Special. Due to the virality of “About Damn Time” and “Grrrls,” this album at No. 1 on the iTunes Top 100 Albums Charts.
Lizzo is back and better than ever with the release of Special. After countless hit songs, she’s released ten new songs that are bound to be hits. The singer brought her self love experiences to the table for this jam packed album.
This album features ups, downs, and loads of surprises. There are plenty of upbeat tunes like “About Damn Time,” but also heartfelt slower songs like “Naked,” “Coldplay,” and “Break Up Twice.” Special discusses self love, past romances, and preparing for another relationship. I think there’s a great mix of fast and slow songs.
I fully believe that Lizzo just released an album of hits for the summer of 2022. We’ve already seen her song “About Damn Time” become insanely viral on TikTok, so I wouldn’t be surprised if other songs follow in its footsteps. My two favorite songs from the album are “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready) and “Everyone’s Gay.”
“2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” is a beautiful track about preparing yourself for your next relationship. Throughout the song, the singer ponders whether or not she’s ready for a new beau. On the other hand “Everyone’s Gay” is a quick track with a clear disco inspiration. This danceable song makes me want to get up and dance.
The Inspiration Behind This Album
In the album’s special message, Lizzo acknowledges that she’s been hard at work for the past three years. In total, she wrote almost 170 songs to release 12. Special features songs about love, self love, love for family, love for friends, love for significant others, and more. At the end of the message, Lizzo shares that the title, Special, comes from each person’s unique qualities.
To celebrate Special‘s release, Lizzo has performed at an iHeartRadio release party, as well as on the Today show in New York City. This album’s release comes three days after Lizzo’s series Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls, received nominations for the Emmy Awards. This singer kicks off her “Special” tour this fall in Sunrise, Florida.
