Liam Payne’s ex-partner Cheryl has reportedly been named an administrator of his $32.2 million estate estate, after the former One Direction star died without a will. Payne and Cheryl shared a son named Bear, now 8 years old.

Cheryl Named Administrator of Liam Payne’s Estate

According to court documents obtained by People, Cheryl has been named an administrator of Payne’s estate, alongside attorney Richard Mark Bray. The gross value of Payne’s UK estate was reportedly $38 million, with a net value of about $32.2 million.

The BBC reports that Cheryl and Bray will “manage the money, but they currently have limited authority and cannot distribute it.” If a person in the UK dies without a will, their estate is normally inherited by their children if they didn’t have a spouse or civil partner.

Payne and former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl were together from 2016 to 2018, welcoming their son Bear in 2017. After Payne’s death, Cheryl posted a photo of Payne with their son on Instagram, writing in a statement that it was an “indescribably painful time.”

Payne died in October of last year at the age of 31, after falling off a balcony at a hotel in Argentina. At the end of last year, five people were charged in connection with Payne’s death. The charges against three of those individuals (Payne’s friend and two members of hotel staff) have since been dropped.

Payne Was Dating Kate Cassidy When He Died

At the time of Liam Payne’s death, the singer had been dating social media star Kate Cassidy for around two years. Cassidy had been with him for part of his trip to Argentina, but she left before him to return home to Florida.

“I’m still working on accepting the fact that he’s not here anymore, so it’s hard for me to refer to him in the past tense,” Cassidy said in a March interview. “When I do refer to him in the past tense, it almost stings that little bit more. I never would have thought that I would be talking about him in the past tense, so it’s definitely really hard to accept.”

Prior to his death, Payne had filmed a reality competition show called Building the Band, where he served as a judge alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland. Netflix reportedly plans to release the show at some point, but a date has not yet been announced at this time.
