The Knockouts Continue To Impress On ‘The Voice UK’
Reading Time: 3 minutes
The Voice UK is in the midst of the knockouts and it’s getting really serious. Jennifer Hudson, Tom Jones, Olly Murs, and Will.i.Am, (with some help from Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, The Black Eyed Peas, and Craig David), try to give their competitors the edge. So, how’s it looking?

Donel Mangena
This guy might win, like for serious. He’s one of the favorites and, well, just watch that video. He’s extraordinary. He has whatever IT is. That quality you can’t really put your finger on but you know it when you see it. Donel got it easily.

Saskia Eng
She sang  I Came Here For Love by Ella Eyre and she’s great, but this wasn’t the best performance. I don’t know that it’s the best song for her. She didn’t get chosen and I’m not surprised.

Mark Asari
Mark sang Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House and it was tough for him. He has a stuttering problem and wasn’t familiar with the song. He came off as nervous but it was a fine performance but he was not chosen.

Nandi
Nandi sang Sing it Back by Moloko, which I had never heard before. She’s a soulful, 70’s style singer and did a tremendous job, but unfortunately she was eliminated.

Wayne Ellington
If you are going to sing Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson, you had better kick some ass. And he did. I really enjoyed this performance but, alas, he was eliminated.

Ruti Olajugbabge
OK, now we’re talking. Not only was this one of the best performances of the night, but she sang the Cranberries which takes me back to high school. She easily was picked.

Rhianna Abrey
She did Anywhere by Rita Ora and it was…OK. Vocally, she’s fine but there isn’t much going on personality-wise. She just doesn’t wow me. She was eliminated.

Belle Voci
OK, so a couple of opera singers are an interesting choice for The Voice, but who can forget their Smells Like Teen Spirit? They so were chosen.

Jason Nicholson-Porter
Jason did When You Believe by Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey from The Prince of Egypt, not an easy song to sing. Jason has a tendency to oversing, which Jen and Leona warned him about. He was good but it wasn’t enough.

Kirby Frost
She sang Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, which is a song a dearly love. She’s got great stage presence and really did an incredible job. Unfortunately, she did not get chosen.

Shane McCormack
Shane is a lounge singer type and he is a lot of fun. He sang City of Stars from La La Land, which I hated as a movie, but Shane did a good job. He didn’t get chosen and I kind of get it.

Jamie Gray
Jamie sang a ballad version of Faith by George Michael, which was extraordinary. There was no way he wasn’t getting picked.
