Former American Idol star Jennifer Hudson delivered a stunning rendition of “America the Beautiful” at the MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia earlier his week. Fans shared their thoughts about the performance on social media.
For her performance at the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night, Hudson wore a red jumpsuit with long, flowing sleeves. She was accompanied by a pianist and a three backup singers. There was also a large orchestra on the field, which could be seen in wide shots.
“One of the greatest voices of all time!” one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote in response to Hudson’s powerhouse performance. Another fan wrote, “Beautiful…proudly sung and heart felt.” Someone else posted, “Jennifer Hudson never misses with a live performance. You can always count on her to make a big moment feel even bigger.”
Unfortunately, not everyone was a fan of Hudson’s rendition of the iconic song. Some social media users accused her of lip-syncing, while others didn’t like her arrangement of the tune. One person wrote, “I didn’t recognize it? A little too different.”
Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game also featured a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by none other than Patti LaBelle.
