Last June 26, it was announced that the two will be obtaining their own star in the famous walk. Alongside 30 other celebrities, Jeong and Stefani are some of the deserving honorees this year.
In an Instagram post, he stated that earning a Hollywood Walk of Fame star never came across in his “wildest dreams.” Spending years in comedy clubs, he rose to popularity after playing Leslie Chow in The Hangover and Ben Chang in Community.
Meanwhile, it will be couple goals for Stefani and her husband Blake Shelton who just received his star last month. Stefani has been a pop superstar since her No Doubt days, then giving rise to multiple music hits as a solo artist. Over the years, the “Hollaback Girl” also managed to maintain her fashion icon status.
“The committee did an amazing job choosing these very talented people,” committee member Ellen K said. “We can’t wait to see each honoree’s reaction as they realize that they are becoming a part of Hollywood’s history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway!”
The Walk of Fame comprises more than 2,700 stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Los Angeles. Apart from it being a world-prominent tourist spot, it is said to be the “only award that can be shared with the fans.”
“The Oscar, the Grammy, the Tony is in somebody’s home. This one is on the sidewalk. [Fans] can sit next to it. They can pose with it. It’s an interactive award,” Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies said.
The Masked Singer Judge Reflects on the Milestone
On his social media, Jeong took the time to celebrate this new achievement. In his caption, the comedian looked back on his decision to give up being a doctor to pursue entertainment.
“I quit being a physician in the hopes of becoming a character actor, so to be selected for the Hollywood Walk of Fame, I can’t even articulate in words. I still can’t believe it,” he wrote.
Jeong went on and expressed gratitude for the people who made such milestone happen.
“Thank you to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, but most of all, thank YOU,” he wrote. “Thank you to EVERY single person in my life.”
In the comments, fellow celebrities sent their congratulatory messages to the actor. They include America’s Got Talent host Terry Crews and AGT judge Howie Mandel.
