Reading Time: 2 minutes
Kelly Clarkson has shared details about her next album, and it sounds like the singer will be using the record to get honest about her divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock.
In a preview for Kelly’s upcoming interview with Willie Geist on Sunday Today, Kelly gave a few hints of what fans can expect from the upcoming album. It sounds like Kelly will be getting pretty personal.
Kelly Clarkson Calls Next Album ‘Most Personal’
“This next record, this will probably be the most personal one I’ve ever released,” Kelly told Willie in the new interview. “The whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship, to the end of what it is now.”

She added that recording the album has been “therapeutic” for her, and described it as “very honest.” We can only assume that some of the songs she’s been working on were inspired by her split from Brandon Blackstock. Kelly filed for divorce in June after seven years of marriage.
Kelly also shared that her kids (River Rose, 6, and Remington Alexander, 4) have been singing along to one of the new songs in the car. She said it was “weird,” although they’re too young to understand what it’s about. “Like, it’s your relationship,” she said. “I’ve never written about my life to where my kids are, like, singing along.”
How Is Kelly Handling Her Divorce?
Kelly’s divorce came at an already stressful time in her life, as she juggled raising her kids and filming her talk show during the pandemic. The singer admitted that life felt like an “emotional roller coaster.”

However, Kelly seems to be staying on good terms with her ex Brandon Blackstock. When she won a Daytime Emmy earlier this year, she thanked him on Twitter for “believing in me” and “convincing me to do” the talk show.
In July, a source said that Kelly’s divorce would make her a “stronger person,” and that being busy was a “blessing” for her at this difficult time. It sounds like making music has also been helping Kelly get through it.
Kelly hasn’t shared any details about when we can expect her next album, but we can’t wait to hear it. In the meantime, she’ll be returning as a coach on The Voice when the new season premieres October 19.
