Pop megastar Katy Perry has cashed in on her music catalog after selling her stake in the master recordings and publishing rights to Litmus Music. Sources report that the “Dark Horse” singer sealed the deal for $225 million.

Katy Perry Sells Catalog Rights to Litmus Music

On Monday, September 18, Litmus Music announced that it has acquired the rights to Katy Perry’s five studio albums released through Capitol Records. These collections include One of the Boys, Teenage Dream, PRISM, Witness and Smile.

As per reports, Litmus paid $225 million for the royalties and rights to her music releases between 2008 and 2020. Litmus chose to not comment on the deal terms.

“Katy Perry is a creative visionary who has made a major impact across music, TV, film, and philanthropy. I’m so honored to be partnering with her again and to help Litmus manage her incredible repertoire,” Dan McCarroll, Litmus co-founder and chief creative officer, said.

Over the years, Perry has notched a total of nine No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100. The pop singer is also the first female artist to send five songs from the same album to the Hot 100, even during the peak eras of stars such as Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Adele.

“Katy’s songs are an essential part of the global cultural fabric. We are so grateful to be working together again with such a trusted partner whose integrity shines in everything that she does,” co-founder and CEO Hank Forsyth added.

Perry is not the only household name artist who sold her catalog rights. Earlier this year, Justin Bieber sold his rights to all the music he released before 2022 for a reported $200 million to Hipgnosis Songs Capital.

She Gears Towards the Wrap of Her Las Vegas Residency

Aside from her recent business deal, Perry is also busy with her blockbuster Las Vegas residency. PLAY will wrap in November after a successful two-year stint at Resorts World that won her “Best Strip Headliner” in 2022.

During one of her residency gigs, Perry warned fans to get ready for her upcoming album, KP6. The “Teenage Dream” hitmaker went on with a playful hip swivel, confirming that she’s got some music ready for her fans.

“If you couldn’t love me in my Witness and Smile eras, then you can’t love me in my KP6 era,” she said.

Since the birth of her daughter Daisy Dove Bloom, Perry has not released a new album. The singer is obviously occupied with raising a family with her partner, actor Orlando Bloom.

Nonetheless, while Perry has slowed her career after being at peak during the 2010s, she has remained to be a pop icon until today. As she gears up for the release of KP6, fans are excited for what’s in store for this era.
