American Idol judge Katy Perry recently attended the 2022 CMA Awards to perform a duet with Thomas Rhett. At the event, she finally shed light about her unexpected eye glitch during her Las Vegas Residency.
Katy Perry Explains Eye Glitch Party Trick
Several speculations have been made regarding Katy Perry’s viral eye glitch, some believing it to be a worrisome health condition. In a recent interview with Extra, Perry took the chance to reenact the eye twitch, saying that it’s simply a party trick. She then explained that it was nothing else but a product of her glam experiences for over a decade.
“You know what this is from? This is from like 13 years in the hair and makeup chair where I’m watching makeup artists do my makeup,” she said. “I’m like ‘Okay you’re gonna get that part in the brow, are you gonna get that crease, let’s see.”
It turns out that Extra’s host Alecia Davis could also do the eye trick, proving that this wasn’t something to worry about. Davis proceeded to ask if her makeup artists freak out whenever she does the eye glitch, to which Perry said “no.”
“I mean, they’re already freaked out by me,” she said. “No, I’m the sweetest pie to all those people. I love them all.”
As she adds more dates to her Las Vegas show, PLAY, we don’t know if Perry will continue to gag herself with glitching her eye out. That being said, fans can now relax, knowing that her eye glitch is merely a harmless stunt for entertainment.
She Just Turned 38
The American Idol judge was happy to have her family alongside her for her recent 38th birthday. She is most specifically grateful for her two-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
“My present forever is my daughter. She is my light, she is the reason for everything,” she said.
Despite her Las Vegas residency, she’s still the person who drops her daughter off at preschool and makes her lunch. According to the singer, she feels so much pride in being a hands-on mom.
“You know mom, upside down is? It’s still wow,” she said. “So I am mom and wow.”
Perry recently announced the extension of her Las Vegas residency. In 2023, PLAY will run from February 15 through April 15. The hit show will go on sporadically.
