Jujubee Says “I like torture” Ahead of Latest ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Appearance

Drag queen Jujubee is a familiar face in the world of Rupaul’s Drag Race. She’s been appearing on various shows in the franchise for over a decade now, but she’s never won. Now she’s hoping to finally come out on top in RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World.
Jujubee (whose real name is Airline Inthyrath) told the BBC of her latest appearance, “People might think I’m crazy for doing this again. But I like torture! I’ve been everywhere and that’s because of Drag Race.”
The 37-year-old’s frequent presence on fans’ TV screens has inspired some funny social media posts, including a Photoshopped image of Jujubee as Thanos wearing all the different shows on her gauntlet. Another user joked that Jujubee has been in more episodes of the franchise than RuPaul.
1. Jujubee Started Off Competing on ‘Drag Race’ Season 2
Jujubee’s first appearance on a Drag Race show was in Season 2 of the original series in 2010, when she was 25 years old. She made it to the finale, finishing in third place out of 12 queens. Jujubee was later nominated for the NewNowNext Award for “Most Addictive Reality Star.”
2. She Competed on Two Seasons of ‘All Stars’
In 2012, Jujubee joined the first cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. She paired up with fellow Season 2 queen Raven to form to duo “Rujubee.” They made it all the way to the finale, finishing the competition in third/fourth place with Shannel.
Jujubee also competed on Season 5 of All Stars in 2020. She made it to the Top 3 of the competition, becoming the first queen to make it to the finale in three different seasons of Drag Race.

3. Jujubee Also Appeared on ‘RuPaul’s Drag U’
Jujubee appeared as a professor on all three seasons of spin-off show RuPaul’s Drag U. She won first in Season 1 with a makeover for Dallas actress Charlene Tilton, and again in Season 2 with a nurse named Lanell. The queen has also made guest appearances on Drag Race over the years.
4. She Was Recently on ‘Queen of the Universe’
Jujubee’s most recent appearance in the Drag Race franchise was on Queen of the Universe, an international competition for drag queens who sing. She was among the first group eliminated, finishing between 10th and 14th place after singing “Into You” by Ariana Grande.
5. She’ll Be Competing on ‘UK vs. the World’
Jujubee is one of nine contestants competing on RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World. The series features drag queens who have competed on Drag Race shows around the world. The show will premiere February 1 on BBC Three, BBC One, Crave, and WOW Presents Plus.
Could this finally be Jujubee’s time to win it all? We’ll have to wait and see.
