JoJo Siwa Feels ‘More Love Than Ever’ One Year After Coming Out
It’s been a year since pop star JoJo Siwa came out as gay. This past weekend, the Dancing withthe Stars groundbreaking contestant celebrated in a lengthy social media post, thanking her fans for showing her “the most love throughout this year.” Siwa posted a throwback picture to celebrate her special day. The picture was the same image that she used that had fans guessing about the entertainer’s sexuality one year ago.
Siwa’s picture has her wearing a t-shirt that reads: “Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever.” At the time the photo was taken, Siwa mentioned that her cousin bought her the shirt. She continued to slowly introduce fans to the real her through a series of cryptic Tweets and Instagram posts. Siwa’s post, wearing a rainbow bow and a Gucci sweatshirt with rainbow colors on it, had fans commenting their support.
On TikTok, the former The Masked Singer contestant also posted a video of her singing Lady Gaga’s LGBTQ+ anthem, “Born This Way,” which has more than 25 million views.
The deal was seemingly sealed when Siwa joined the LGBTQ+ TikTok group Pride House in a video where they danced to Paramore’s “Ain’t it Fun.” Siwa danced with pure pride as the lyrics of the song “now you’re one of us” repeatedly played. Siwa acknowledges that she was scared to come out at first, but says she was “put on this earth to be a role model for kids.”
“Please never forget that no matter who you are, what you look like, who you LOVE, you are absolutely perfect,” Siwa posted in her caption.
Along with her throwback picture, Siwa also added other images to remember her historic year. She included her People magazine cover, her time on Dancing With The Stars, and even a video of when her cousin first gave her the now iconic t-shirt. Siwa has been an inspiration for countless fans and this year she proved that she will continue to use her platform to be a voice for others.

JoJo Siwa Continues D.R.E.A.M. Tour
There used to be a time when coming out in Hollywood would mark the end of an entertainer’s career. It took a lot of courage for Siwa to open up about this part of her life. She risked losing everything that she built when she announced that she was gay.
The singer persisted and her career is as hot as ever. From her time on Dancing with the Stars, to Siwa’s Dance Pop Revolution, she is not allowing anyone to stop her. Recently she began her latest tour, selling out stadium after stadium, Siwa continues to inspire her young fans across the country.
