JoJo Siwa Discusses Gender Identity on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’

So You Think You Can Dance Judge JoJo Siwa is on the current season of Celebrity Big Brother UK. The professional dancer has made headlines recently due to a rocky start on the series when she was subjected to shocking homophobic comments made by actor Mickey Rourke.
JoJo Siwa, Chris Hughes Get in Trouble on Big Brother UK for Secret Conversation
During Monday night’s episode of Celebrity Big Brother UK JoJo Siwa was shown speaking in code with Love Island star Chris Hughes. This occurred in the early hours of the morning, Hughes told Siwa to write out what she wanted to tell him, so she did.
The next morning, Siwa, while talking to reality star Ella Rae Wise explained that she’s in a “deep thought session.”
Wise then explained that she can’t be fulfilled in a relationship if she’s no fulfilled with herself.
“I think that’s something I’ve realized in the house. Like, I love my partner so much…” Siwa said. “My thing is, I don’t know if I’m all for me. And that’s kind of what I’ve realized being here. Being removed from everything, I think I’m so overthinking everything.”

JoJo Siwa Discusses Gender Identity on Celebrity Big Brother UK
Later that day, the show exposed Siwa and Hughes’ secret conversation from the night before. Hughes had Siwa’s back, saying that they had been discussing learning French and German at school.
The Big Brother commentator then pushed Siwa to talk about what their conversation was really about.
“It’s something that I’m not ready, necessarily, to be open about or upfront about, but it has to do with gender and how do I feel. Let’s put it this way… Oh my god, this is a lot…” Siwa said.

The dancer then took a moment to compose herself, while being held by Hughes. Eventually, she told him she’d be okay to continue.
“Essentially, you have female, you have male. I’ve met a lot of females, love them, don’t feel like them. Met a lot of males, love them, definitely not them. Met a lot of people in my life that are nonbinary, and these beautiful nonbinary people are who I feel the most like and…” Siwa said. “I don’t know, it’s not something I want to say about myself yet, but it’s something that is confusing, and that’s probably why we were talking about it last night.”
Hughes then praised Siwa for being open and honest about it. Later on the episode, Siwa was consoled by 32-year-old drag performer Danny Beard.
What Happened Between JoJo Siwa, Mickey Rourke?
During Celebrity Big Brother UK last week, there were multiple uncomfortable scenes that aired. Rourke started the conversation asking if Siwa liked boys or girls.
“Me? Girls,” Siwa said. “My partner is nonbinary.”
“If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore,” Rourke said.
“I can guarantee I’ll still be gay, and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship,” Siwa said, calmy.
“I’ll tie you up,” Rourke said.

Later, Rourke told former Love Island star Chris Hughes that he was going to “vote out the lesbian real quick.” After being called out, Rourke used the F-slur while motioning toward Siwa.
Hughes took Siwa’s side, telling Rourke that he couldn’t say things like that. Rourke eventually apologized to Siwa after getting a warning from the shows’ producers.
Eventually, Rourke ended up being removed from the Celebrity Big Brother house a couple of days later. Since then, Hughes and Siwa have grown much closer.
