‘The Voice Battle of Champions’ Fans Find On-Air Commentators Unnecessary

Druski and Derek Fisher on 'The Voice Battle of Champions'

The Voice Battle of Champions is truly showing up as a competition like no other. The spin off season of The Voice features previous champions, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend as coaches. Due to the champion format, this season’s theme is sport-like featuring on-air commentators.

The Voice Fans Think Commentators Are Unnecessary

Similar to sport commentators, Druski and Derek Fisher are The Voice‘s on-air commentators. According to NBC, the pair provides “humourous analysis, react to performances and track ‘triple turns… this pairing serves as a new, high-profile commentary team.”

Now that the show is officially in its second round, fans are taking to Reddit to share their opinion on the new format, as well as the on-air commentators. Following the premiere of the Battle Rounds, a fan started a thread on Reddit, saying “The two commentators are really bad, They bring the program down, In reality they seem stupid.”

In the comments, fans have begun agreeing, sharing their anger that performances are sometimes cut short for this useless commentary.

“It’s bad bad gimmick. Also why recap something that happened a minute before they did it. Bad editing too,” another Reddit user commented.

Some Fans Think This Commentary is ‘Ruining’ The Voice

In a separate Reddit thread, another fan stated that Druski and Derek Fishers’ commentary is ruining the show. They think that maybe the show is trying to save itself from being canceled by introducing new formatting.

Fans once again fled to the comments, agreeing with the dislike of the on-air commentators. In the first portion of the season, the on-air commentators lead the Triple-Chair analysis, which kept track of which coach had the most Triple-Chair turns.

“The guys doing it seem like they are doing a good job of it but it does not fit at all with the show,” another Reddit user wrote, after explaining that they watched the on-air commentary for the Triple-Chair turn analysis. “It is like the silly gags and prop things they do that are slightly annoying, but this one repeats twice a show. Hopefully it never returns.”

“I do not know why they have that Bruski and other dude bit…” another user commented. “It’s so needless, adds nothing and isn’t even close to funny nor entertaining.”
