Could Olympic analysts Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir end up taking over The Kelly Clarkson Show? A new report claims the figure skaters are in the running to replace Clarkson when she leaves her talk show later this year.
Tara Lipinski, Johnny Weir to Replace Kelly Clarkson?
Radar Online is reporting that former Olympic figure skaters and longtime friends Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir are being considered to take over Kelly Clarkson’s talk show spot when her final season comes to an end later this year.
“There are actual development conversations happening. They’re looking at formats. They’re running numbers,” an insider told the outlet, with another source adding of the athletes, “They’re live-TV pros. Quick on their feet, visually dynamic, and audiences genuinely like them. That’s gold.”
Lipinski and Weir served as analysts during NBC’s recent coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics. While no contracts have reportedly been signed yet, a source told Radar of the network’s consideration of the pair, “This is serious.”
“They check every box,” an insider shared. “Polished, experienced, and they understand spectacle. NBC isn’t experimenting – they’re positioning.”

When Will Clarkson’s Show End?
Kelly Clarkson announced in February that she would be stepping away from hosting her eponymous talk show after the current seventh season ends. Clarkson said in a statement that it was “not an easy decision,” but emphasized that it “will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”
According to NBC Insider, new episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show will continue to air through the fall of 2026, so fans will still have plenty of time before they have to say goodbye. In the meantime, everyone is wondering who will be taking over Clarkson’s spot.
Earlier this month, it was rumored that Pink could become the permanent host after filling in for Clarkson as a guest host for some recent episodes. Who do you think should get the spot? Let us know in the comments below.
