American Idol fans are excited as heartthrob John Stamos is mentoring the contestants for Disney night next week. That’s right! Uncle Jesse from Full House will be leading the contestants as they take on some of Disney’s biggest hits. He got some advice from the person who knows the most about the show, Kelly Clarkson, when he stopped by her talk show.

Clarkson was ecstatic for her friend Stamos to take on the role of American Idol mentor.

“They called me and said ‘Hey will you be on American Idol‘ and I said ‘I’m not a great singer’ and I’m really not and they said ‘you’ll be the mentor,'” Stamos said.

Stamos definitely does not give himself enough credit as he is more than qualified to mentor the Season 19 contestants. He is currently starring in Big Shot, a series on Disney+ where he plays a basketball coach. He also starred in The Little Mermaid Live! on ABC as Chef Louis. He flaunted his musical chops and comedy skills during this performance. The 57-year-old father of one also jams out with The Beach Boys pretty frequently.

He joked that the contestants would say: “yeah Stamos we’ve heard you sing, shut up.”

Clarkson noted that because Stamos is an actor, he will be able to offer the contestants some good advice.

“A lot of people can sing, but not a lot of people can move people or touch people,” she said.

When Clarkson was on the show, her group of contestants was mentored by legendary musician Burt Bacharach.

“We were the firsts season and it was so interesting because nobody knew what to do with it. He even was kind of like ‘what are we doing,'” she said.

Clarkson thinks she may have pissed him off because he wanted her to sing “Anyone Who Had A Heart” by Dionne Warwick for one performance.

“I grew up singing in things and everybody always sang that song and I liked ‘Walk On By’ because I heard Aretha sing it and I really wanted to do that one and at the last minute I changed it and I don’t know if he was too happy about that but it worked out for me,” Clarkson said through laughter.

Stamos Was Spotted Filming in Walt Disney World

Stamos along with the nine contestants remaining in the competition were whisked away to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida for some inspiration. He was spotted filming for American Idol in Magic Kingdom by parkgoers and Disney employees.

Stamos wore a navy blue suit as he sat down with Chayce Beckham to offer up some advice.

Another photo shows the setup that was built in Disney World to accommodate the filming of this episode.

In another photo, it looks like Stamos is sitting with contestant Casey Bishop.

On May 2, the contestants will perform their chosen Disney songs. Ryan Seacrest will also announce which Season 18 contestant will return to the competition based on America’s votes. Voting is open until April 26 at 6 am ET.
