Reading Time: 2 minutes
John Legend and Samara Brown were both given the hardest decisions to make tonight on The Voice. Although both decisions were quite nerve racking for viewers, Legend will continue coaching Samara in the compeition.
From the preview of this battle, we knew Legend taught both Samara and BrittanyBree well. They were seen belting a beautiful tune for Legend and mentor Camila Cabello. Both Legend and Cabello mentioned that these women had the potential to be the best performance of the night. The two singers took to The Voice stage singing a classic Aretha Franklin tune.
They did so well in this performance that Legend definitely had a tough decision to make. All four coaches gave these singers a standing ovation during this amazing performance. Legend and Cabello weren’t kidding, this seriously was one of the best performances of the night.
After all four coaches shared incredibly positive notes, Legend made the tough decision. He chose BrittanyBree as the winner of the battle. He thought she was absolutely amazing considering she had never sung secular music until her four chair-turn audition.
Samara Brown Can be Stolen or Saved
As soon as the option arose, both Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson tried to steal Samara. That is, on top of Legend clicking his buzzer to save her as well. Samara seemed absolutely speechless when she saw the support.
Grande shared that she told people backstage that she wanted to use her steal on this singer. Clarkson shared that she thought Samara is amazing and that she’d look great in her turquoise jersey.
“I truly love working with you and every once in a while you put two people together and you’re like man, I should’ve never put them together,” Legend chuckled. “You two are like some of the best talent in the entire competition – period. I would feel so blessed and fortunate to continue coaching you.”
Samara chose to remain on Team Legend. The Samara and Legend hugged before going off of the stage. Backstage, Legend shared that it was a strategic move on both Clarkson and Grande’s part. It’s obvious that he would’ve been happy for the other coaches if she chose go their way.
