The CMT Awards announced nominations for the 2021 ceremony on Thursday, and several of our favorite talent show stars are included in the categories. That includes both judges and former contestants.

Most notably, The Voice coach John Legend was nominated for his song with American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. You wouldn’t usually see Legend’s name in the country music genre. Will he add a CMT Award to his collection of trophies?

John Legend, Carrie Underwood Nominated for CMT Awards

Carrie Underwood and John Legend are nominated for Video of the Year for their duet of “Hallelujah,” which was featured on Underwood’s Christmas album My Gift. They’re up against Voice guest coach Kelsea Ballerini with her song “hole in the bottle.” The duo was also nominated for Collaborative Video of the Year.

American Idol judge Luke Bryan was nominated in the Male Video of the Year category, for his song “Down to One.” Meanwhile, Season 16 Idol finalist Gabby Barrett is nominated for Female Video of the Year for “The Good Ones.”

In addition to Video of the Year, Ballerini is also nominated for Female Video of the Year for “hole in the bottle.” Her song with Halsey, “The Other Girl,” is nominated for CMT Performance of the Year. They performed the song at last year’s ceremony.

Kelsea Ballerini Will Host the Awards

Not only is Ballerini nominated for three CMT Awards this year — she’s also hosting the ceremony with Kane Brown. This is Brown’s second time hosting, but Ballerini is new to the job.

“I’m so excited to be hosting the 2021 CMT Music Awards with Kane! The CMT Awards are so special because they are truly fan voted,” Ballerini said in a statement. “Following a year plus where we have not been able to be with the fans and share music together, will make this night even more special.”

The CMT Awards are voted on by the fans, so be sure to pick your favorites here. You can vote up to 20 times per category. The winners will be announced live on Wednesday, June 9, at 8 p.m. ET on CMT. The show will also air simultaneously on MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network, and TV Land
