Jennifer Lopez Announced This Is Me… Now Album
Lopez has remained relatively inactive in the music scene, since her 2014 full-length album, A.K.A, dropped. Now after eight years, Lopez announced that she will be releasing a 13-track album titled This Is Me… Now.
The upcoming album is also a follow-up to her 2002 album dedicated to Affleck who she had a high-profile relationship at the time. Before announcing the news, her social media went dark for a couple of days leading to the big reveal.
The short clip the singer posted, it shows the original album cover from 20 years ago transforming into the 2022 version of herself. Lopez also recreated the original photo of herself from This Is Me…Then, and it shows how much the singer maintained her youthful appearance.
The new upcoming album chronicles the “emotional, spiritual and psychological journey,” that the singer went through for two decades. Also according to the press release, This Is Me…Now comes on the heels of her marriage to Affleck, to who she dedicated the 2002 album to.
She Deleted All Other Posts on her Instagram Leading Up to the Announcement
Her highly-followed Instagram account got rid of all previous posts prior to announcing her album reveal. In addition to this, all other social media accounts of the singer went literally dark as she replaced her profile pictures with a black image.
The singer’s Instagram account remains as her most followed social media platform with over 227 million followers. Her TikTok and Twitter accounts, which have 15.4 million and 45.5 million followers respectively, did not get previous content deleted.
When asked about the move, a representative for Lopez declined to answer. Although it has been seen in the past that celebrities and musicians would wipe out their social media accounts prior to a major announcement such as releasing an album. Her decision to clean out her Instagram post could simply be in the same tradition as other artists before announcing This Is Me…Now.
