Is Julianne Hough Reviving ‘Dancing With The Stars’ as Alfonso Ribeiro’s Co-Host?
Reading Time: 3 minutes
On Dancing With The Stars, fans are not only critical of the dancing pairs’ ballroom routines, but also about its emcee’s hosting styles and antics. For Season 32, the show welcomed its newest co-host Julianne Hough, alongside the hope that she’ll be better than Tyra Banks. Since the season is nearing the end, the question remains: Is Julianne Hough bringing a new glow to DWTS?
DWTS Fans Gladly Welcomed Julianne Hough as Tyra Banks’ Replacement
After knowing that supermodel Tyra Banks would be leaving DWTS, most fans were unapologetic for their comments. Although Banks’ DWTS hosting gig was relatively short, she managed to rub the viewers the wrong way. Due to her chaotic hosting style, fans begged for a new host.
Last March, it was revealed that Julianne Hough would be joining Alfonso Ribeiro as co-host for DWTS Season 32. This news made fans very happy, since they believe Hough fits the role better than Banks. At the time, Hough stated that Season 32 was the perfect time to return to the dancing competition series.
“I just have this unique perspective to be able to relate and nurture and care for the celebrities and the couples competing because I’ve not only experienced what they’ve experienced, but I’ve also been a judge. I know what people are looking for and how I can support and make them feel the most comfortable,” she said.
During the beginning of her job, everything appeared to be smooth sailing. However, her mistakes amid Monster Night made fans think that she might be no different than Banks.
After the Halloween-themed episode, one fan stated that Hough’s ways had been “cringey as hell.” They also pointed out how wrong it was for the co-host to ship Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold.
Furthermore, Hough has repeatedly come under fire for other errors on camera. In one episode, she mispronounced Xochitl Gomez’s name. Many fans also slammed her for her “horrible” questions to contestants.
Tom Bergeron Remains As The Best Host of the Show
It’s fair to say that Hough’s partnership with Alfonso Ribeiro is a more comfortable sight than the comedian’s partnership with Banks. Their professional chemistry is fantastic, which is probably because they’ve known each other for a while. However, I would be lying if I said Hough has perfectly gotten into the groove to be acclaimed as the show’s best co-host.
Here’s one thing: Hough may be a better and more wholesome host than Banks, but she’s admittedly not on par with former host Tom Bergeron. If Bergeron were to ever return to the show, fans would be a frenzy, and I think that says a lot about the current hosting pair.
However, it also pays to note that it’s Hough’s first time to hosting this show. Before her hosting gig, she was a professional dancer on the series, and a judge. Although she witnessed great hosting, she hasn’t had to do it until now. Therefore, it’s only fair that fans cut her some slack. In my opinion, Hough’s hosting style has the tendency to appear too staged. Nevertheless, this is something that can be worked on through time and practice.
To answer whether she’s reviving DWTS as a new co-host, it’s a straight up no. Nonetheless, she’s far from being an eye sore or someone the needs to leave. While she has things to work on, I believe that she’ll eventually get the hang of her job.
