On Wednesday, Hayes posted an album cover for Red Sky on Instagram. It features a photo of the singer outside at night, with a red light highlighting his eyes. Hayes wrote in the caption that he’s “waited over a decade” to make this announcement.
Red Sky is Hayes’ “first fully independent album,” which he’s been working on for more than three years. He shared that the album will be available April 21 and wrote that it was “about the adventure of finding yourself to be yourself.”
“Musically, it’s a road trip from where I’ve been to where I am,” Hayes wrote. “Lyrically, it’s for anyone who needs a reminder of how unique your fire inside is and how much the world needs more YOU in it.”
Hayes shared that he’s “never been more proud of a body of work” than he is of this new album. Ahead of his album announcement, the singer released a new song called “Normal,” along with a music video.

“I should hate you / Probably do / But I don’t want to / All I do is forgive you / Is it normal that I do?” Hayes sings on his new song. “Everyone I love is worried / All you’ve ever done is hurt me / And it hurts me to love you / Is it normal that I do?”
On Thursday, Hayes released a new music video to go along with the song, in which he walks through the wreckage from a plane crash and plays guitar. This is one of several music videos Hayes has released over the past few months.
Hayes has put out singles called “Sober,” “Someone Will,” “Friend,” “Could’ve Been You,” and more since last year. Along with the release of “Normal” on Thursday, Hayes also debuted the track “Lonely Loves Me.”
