America’s Got Talent judge Howie Mandel was recently a guest on Live with Kelly & Mark. When the hosts commented on Mandel looking great for his age, he became argumentative, which led to an awkward moment.
Howie Mandel Scolds Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos
During a recent interview, Mark Consuelos pointed out that Howie Mandel is now 70 years old. Co-host Kelly Ripa said that it “doesn’t make any sense” that Mandel is 70. Mandel quickly responded, “What do you mean it doesn’t make any sense? I look great? That doesn’t mean anything to me.”
Mandel seemed to be genuinely bothered by the comments on looking good for his age, saying, “No, no, no. I don’t like that, ’cause that’s a caveat.” When Ripa insisted that they weren’t “saying you look great for 70,” he fired back, “Yes, you are, without saying 70.”
In response, Consuelos confirmed, “I am saying that,” while Ripa added, “You look great, and I don’t believe you’re 70.” Mandel replied by telling her, “It’s like saying you’re smart for a stupid person.”
When Consuelos insisted that Mandel does “look good,” he seemed to be in better spirits, thanking the host and saying he looked in the mirror before coming out. He admitted, “You’re right. Honestly, now, I’ll be serious for a minute… I’m gorgeous.”
After the brief argument about looking good for his age, Mandel went on to share that his friend Jerry O’Connell “has got me into the most ridiculous workout I’ve ever done in my life.” The routine apparently involves swimming with cables connected from his ankles to the side of the swimming pool, as well as “frying pan paddles.”
“And I swim for an hour and go nowhere. Here’s the thing, I got so lost in it. It’s really good,” Mandel said, adding that he takes the paddles and cables with him to hotels, “which scares children.”
Mandel will be back at the judges’ desk on America’s Got Talent when the show returns for Season 21 on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 8/7c on NBC.
