Grimes, Elon Musk Welcome Second Child Via Surrogate

Grimes revealed that she and Elon Musk have welcomed their second child, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, via surrogate. The 33-year-old Alter Ego judge shared that the baby, who she calls Y, was born in December. The couple of three years confirmed their semi-separation last September, so their newest addition comes as a surprise.
Exa Dark Sideræl Musk Was Welcomed into The World Via Surrogate
Grimes shared that she and Musk secretly welcomed their second child via surrogate last December. The singer then noted that her daughter’s name is Exa Dark Sideræl Musk. Exa is a reference to the supercomputing term exaFLOPS, while dark stands for the unknown. The other part of her name, Sideræl is a more “elven” spelling of sidereal which is defined as the tru time of the universe not relative earth time. On top of that, Sideræl is also inspired by her favorite Lord of The Rings character, Galadriel.
It turns out that fan speculation was right after all. Following the singers release of “Shinigami Eyes” she took to Instagram to ask fans which photo should be the cover of her upcoming album. The two photos led to fan speculation considering there was a strong emphasis on the singer’s pregnant belly.
Grimes recently shared that she couldn’t walk during the last month of her pregnancy with X Æ A-Xii. The baby was pressing on her nerves so she would continually collapse and end up having to crawl. She shared that the experience was scary and she expects there will be future complications if she wants to carry a child again.
Grimes Explains Her Relationship Status
The couple welcomed Exa Dark Sideræl Musk in December 2021 after Grimes relocated to Austin, TX. Around that time it had been reported that she and Musk were semi-separated because of their time in different cities. At the time, Musk confirmed that the two were still living together with their child during that time.
It seems like things have changed in the past few months. I wouldn’t go on a whim and say that Grimes and Musk are back together completely, but instead they’re co-parenting and still on good terms. Within the story, Grimes shares that she is now living separately from Musk, but they remain happily as best friends.
“I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends,” Grimes told Vanity Fair. “We see each other all the time…. We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.”
The singer noted that this is the best their relationship has ever been. She also confirmed that they hope to have at least three to four children in total. Even though the couple is reportedly separated, it seems like what they’re currently doing is working for them.
