“Album #2 at work,” Barrett wrote on Instagram Wednesday to accompany a sound clip. “What do you want to hear? Who do you want a duet with?”
The clip Barrett shared doesn’t include any lyrics, but it features a bouncy violin piece. Several commenters said they love how it sounds, with one user comparing it to Shania Twain. Popular choices for potential duet partners included Carrie Underwood, Morgan Wallen, and Kelsea Ballerini.
After finishing third on American Idol, Barrett released the single “I Hope” in 2019. It was a huge success, leading to a deal with Warner Music Nashville. The song became the lead single for Barrett’s debut album Goldmine, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
Last year, Barrett released a deluxe edition of the album, featuring four new tracks including “Pick Me Up,” which became the fourth single.

Barrett Is Currently Pregnant with Her Second Child
Barrett and her husband, fellow Idol Season 16 finalist Cade Foehner, are currently expecting their second child together. The couple, who has a 1-year-old daughter named Baylah, shared that they’re expecting a baby boy this time. In August, Barrett left Jason Aldean’s tour for maternity leave.
However, the singer has plenty of plans lined up for next year, including Stagecoach Festival in April. Barrett also recently shared on Instagram that she’ll be joining country singer Kane Brown on tour next year for a few dates.
We don’t yet have a title or release date for Barrett’s upcoming second album, but she posted on Instagram stories that she was in the process of writing songs. Hopefully fans won’t have to wait too long to hear the finished product.
