Gabby Barrett Joins Colton Dixon on ‘Build a Boat’
Dixon finished in seventh place on Season 11 of American Idol back in 2012. Since then, he’s released four studio albums. In 2022, he put out the song “Build a Boat.” Earlier this month, Dixon announced his Build a Boat Tour, kicking off in March.
The singer, who performs Christian music, wrote on Instagram that the song is “all about faith and perseverance.” As he sings on the track’s chorus, “I will build a boat in the sand where they say it never rains / I will stand up in faith, I’ll do anything it takes / With your wind in my sails, your love never fails or fades / I’ll build a boat in the desert place.”
Barrett offers her vocals to the new version of the song, which features a visualizer showing blueprints for a boat. The two singers sound great together on the uplifting track. As Dixon commented on Barrett’s Instagram post about the collaboration, “You killed this! Honored to have you.”
Barrett Recently Gave Birth to Her Second Child
In October, Barrett and her husband, fellow Season 16 American Idol contestant Cade Foehner, welcomed their second child together, as Barrett gave birth to their son Augustine. The couple already shares a daughter named Baylah, who just celebrated her second birthday.
Barrett released her first album, titled Goldmine, in 2020. In September of last year, the singer teased on Instagram that she was working on her second album. She shared some instrumental snippets and asked fans what they thought.
Later this year, Barrett will be joining country star Kane Brown on a few tour dates. She’ll also be performing at the Stagecoach Festival in California this April.
