Reading Time: 2 minutes
Gabby Barrett releases a music video featuring her real-life husband, Cade Foehner. The music video for “Pick Me Up” released on May 5, following the song’s recent success.
Barrett’s newest music video for “Pick Me Up” follows the narrative of two people loving each other throughout their lives. In the beginning, Barrett is seen acting alongside her real life husband, Cade Foehner. The music video begins with them leaving school in 1962. The two leave together in Foehner’s blue pickup truck. While driving, they’re seen smiling and laughing together.
The video then shifts, showing them in a home with a child in 1978. Within the scene, they’re going through a rough time together. Even though times are tough, Foehner turns on the radio and they begin smiling like they did in the previous scenes. It’s important to note that the child within this music video is an actor, not the couples actual daughter, Baylah May Foehner.
At the end of the video, Barrett is seen in a hospital bed, much older. While in the bed, Foehner is still bringing her flowers and showing her love. The narrative of the video shows that the couple will remain loving one another no matter their age.
Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner Shine in “Pick Me Up”
While I liked the narrative of the music video, I didn’t personally like how it fit within the track. I imagined a different narrative when listening to the song on my own. While I didn’t necessarily love the narrative alongside the track, I did think it was very sweet on it’s own. Barrett and her husband in an acting role together made it so much better. Their genuine love for one another radiated through the screen and we love to see it.
“Pick Me Up” was originally released as part of this country singer’s album Goldmine (Deluxe) in 2021. The bonus track has quickly become popular following its release.
