Fans Cannot Wait to Meet ‘American Idol’s Next Platinum Ticket Winner

As the auditions for the upcoming season 21 of American Idol wrap up, the hit singing show kicks off the voting early. One lucky contender will be picked to be given the coveted Platinum Ticket depending on who the fans cast their votes to.
American Idol Opens Voting Right After Taping Auditions
Adding an unexpected twist to the hit competition show, ABC starts early voting for one of the top three contestants. The fans will have 24 hours to vote for their favorite contender to receive the Platinum Ticket.
Posted on the official Instagram account of the show is an announcement by the show’s host Ryan Seacrest. The host announced that the special voting period will be made available during the American Music Awards on ABC.
Platinum Tickets are a concept from season 20 of the show and is a step above the Golden Ticket in terms of giving an edge to Idol hopefuls. The Platinum Ticket will not only let contestants advance through Hollywood Week like the Golden Ticket. The Platinum Ticket will also allow contestants to bypass the first round of Hollywood Week. Kenedi Anderson, Jay Copeland, and HunterGirl are the previous recipients of the Platinum Ticket.
Voting is Officially Closed
This season, fans were able to pick who receives America’s Platinum Ticket. However, this vote was insanely quick. It was only 24 hours, so many fans were unable to vote, since they heard about it too late. Fans that were able to vote had to be a resident of the U.S.A., residents of Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands. They also must be at least 16 years old.
Since fans were able to pick this season’s Platinum Ticket recipient, they can’t wait to see who wins the coveted prize. The three choices for the Platinum Ticket were Elijah McCormick, Matt Wilson, and Haven Madison. One-minute clips of their auditions are available for viewing on a special page in the American Idol website.
The lucky winner of the Platinum Ticket will certainly get a head start from the other contestants and will have more time to polish their singing abilities. The official American Idol page will soon announce the winner via social media in December 2022.
