The Top 12 remaining artists have finally been determined on American Idol season 21. Among the extremely talented cast is none other than Nutsa Buzaladze, known as Nutsa on the series. Here’s everything to know about this singer.

Her Journey on American Idol

Nutsa first appeared on American Idol in 2023, when she auditioned for the show in Las Vegas. Originally, she began singing “Lady Marmalade” by LaBelle, but was told to stop and sing a second song. Apparently, Katy Perry thought that her audition was “too much.” Nutsa sang “Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston as her second round. This rendition got her three yeses.

Within this round, Nutsa revealed that she had been dreaming about auditioning for American Idol since she was young. Luckily, it all paid off.

“I flew 17 hours from Dubai but it was totally worth it. I cannot believe I’m here,” she said.

The singer then chose to work on her stage presence in Hollywood week, singing “I Surrender” by Celine Dion, as well as “I Put a Spell on You” by Scream’ Jay Hawkins, with Carina Deangelo. “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner was her final solo performance of the round.

Nutsa then continued into the Top 26 where she sang “Paris (Ooh La La)” by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. After being safe for a week, the singer performed “Un-Break My Heart” by Toni Braxton in the Top 20. Even though she didn’t receive enough votes to make it into the Top 10, her journey didn’t end there. After performing “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls, judges chose to save her from elimination.

Who is Nutsa?

Since Nutsa’s first performance, it was clear that she was no stranger to the stage, or show business. She seemed extremely comfortable even when the judges told her that her rendition of “Lady Marmalade” was “too much.” This is probably because she won the reality show X Factor Georgia in 2015. For those who may not know, Nutsa’s hometown is Tbilisi, Georgia. She also previously competed on The Voice Turkey.

The 25 year old is earning praise for being the first person from a foreign country (not in North America) to become both a semifinalist and finalist. Outside of the series, she is currently living in Dubai, which is why she said her flight to Las Vegas was 17 hours long.

At the time of writing, Nutsa has released eight singles. Some of her singles are in English, while others are in her native language, Georgian. These songs are total bops, especially if you like pop music. Nutsa’s current discography is available for streaming on Spotify and Apple Music. At the time of writing, she has 1,257 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Now, Nutsa is preparing to take the stage as a Top 12 artist. Do you think she could go all the way? Let us know in the comments down below.
