Derek Hough has recently confirmed that he and fiancé Hayley Erbert will be getting married this year. According to the Dancing With The Stars judge, the following months will be busy for the both of them, clearly due to their wedding preparations on top of their tour.
Derek Hough Confirms Wedding Timeline
In an Instagram post published on May 7, 2023, Hough confirmed that he and Erbert’s 2023 will be jam-packed. It turns out that this year will not end without the DWTS couple tying the knot.
“Between a Wedding and a 56 City National Tour, it’s gonna be a whirlwind of a year. Hold on tight!!” Hough wrote.
Ahead of this confirmation, fans were aware that this couple didn’t plan to stay engaged for long. Erbert once stated that considering the length of their relationship, it doesn’t “fully make sense” to have a super-long engagement. For her, having to wait for seven years during their dating stage means that they’re “just ready for that next chapter of our lives.”
Naturally, fans cannot wait but to know more about the special day. In the comment section, Hough’s followers expressed their delight about his great news.
“You two are pure magic together!” one person wrote.
Months ago, Hough mentioned that the two of them have already contacted people for the wedding. According to Hough, while both he and Erbert are performers, they are assigning the entertainment aspect of the ceremony to people they know.
“I’m not going to name names right now, but I’ve already asked a few people to perform at the wedding and they’ve already committed. So it’s going to be a full-on festival — I’m very excited about it,” Hough said.
The DWTS judge has also confirmed that fellow DWTS pro and close pal Mark Ballas will serve as his best man.
He Says Nature is a “Must-Have” in Their Special Day
Last month, Hough told US Weekly about some details that he and Herbert are envisioning for the wedding. Interestingly, the professional dancer highly wants to incorporate nature with their special day.
“For me, nature is one of the must-haves,” he said. “I think being in the green [and] in the lush forest and gardens and fields [was] like top of the list.”
Hough also stated that they were interested in putting a live band or a disk jockey during the ceremony. Yet, despite being so busy about their wedding plans, Hough put the process as “going good.”
“What we gravitate towards isn’t always the most lavish option,” he said. “We’re playing with different approaches to certain things so that the day still feels elegant and beautiful and magical, but grounded and down to earth and just approachable.”
Amid wedding preparations, the two are also gearing up for their upcoming multi-city tour. Titled The Symphony of Dance Tour, the duo will be hitting the road throughout North America, stopping at 56 different venues to perform together.
