American Idol Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta recently stopped by Good Morning America to perform his latest single “Hell Together.” The singer also shared some powerful words to mark Pride Month.
David Archuleta Performs ‘Hell Together’ on GMA
In March of this year, Archuleta released a song called “Hell Together.” The track was inspired by his decision to leave the Mormon church after coming out as a member of the LGBTQ community in 2022, and his mother’s decision to join him.
“If I have to live without you / I don’t wanna live forever / In someone else’s heaven / So let ’em close the gates,” Archuleta sings on the track. “Oh, if they don’t like the way you’re made / Then they’re not any better / If paradise is pressure / Oh, we’ll go to hell together.”
Before performing the song on GMA Friday, Archuleta shared a message to people who want to change their relatives: “A lot of us have tried all of our lives to change, so that we could fit what we thought we were supposed to be … It’s a life-changing experience for us as queer people, and to have support from our family means everything.”
As Archuleta performed “Hell Together,” the walls behind him showed photographs of him and his mother throughout the years.
On Friday, Archuleta also announced that he has a new single coming out in July. The track is called “Rather Be Lonely,” and it will be released on July 19. Archuleta went live on Instagram to announce the new song.
“I can’t wait for y’all to hear it. It’s a very special song,” Archuleta told fans in his announcement, adding that people can pre-save the track now. The singer shared a link in his bio to save on various plaforms.
Also on Friday, Archuleta has released three new remixes for “Hell Together,” by Ty Sunderland, Andrew Lux, and De’La. Fans can stream those tracks now.
