BIO: Javier Colon became a household name after winning the first ever season of The Voice. His audition of “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper turned all four of the coaches’ chairs. Javier joined Team Adam and eventually won the season on that team.

Javier grew up surrounded by music because his father worked at a radio station. While pursuing a musical education degree at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School, he performed as a vocalist and percussionist in a soul/funk band. Following this group, Javier auditioned for The Derek Trucks Band and joined the group in 2000.

Javier left the band in 2002 to pursue a solo career and was signed by Capitol Records. He released two albums under the label before departing. He worked as an independent artist until his 2011 audition for The Voice. His most recent single was released in 2017. Javier has three children with his wife of over 20 years, Maureen.
