Kelly vs Meghan vs DJ Khaled: Who Will Win “Teen Choice TV Personality”?

The Teen Choice Award nominees came out last week and a few of our talent show favorites will be going head-to-head! The newest addition to The Voice‘s coaching team, Kelly Clarkson, was nominated for “Choice TV Personality,” along with The Four‘s Meghan Trainor and DJ Khaled. Chrissy Teigen, Derek Hough, and Hailey Baldwin round out the nominations in this category. It is sure to be an interesting match-up!
Now let’s make the case for Kelly, Meghan, and DJ Khaled, and look into why they might (or might not) go home with the win on August 12th.
Kelly Clarkson
In her inaugural season on The Voice, Kelly Clarkson was an instant hit. She brought a new energy to the show as early as the first promos. Her rapport with the other coaches, background on talent shows, and widespread appeal to contestants made her extremely likable to viewers. She even somehow managed to pull country/soul singers from Team Blake! The fact that she already knew Blake beforehand and played into that only helped her show presence too. Kelly deserves the win for how she transformed the show’s energy (and won, on her first season). She is a force to be reckoned with!
Meghan Trainor
Meghan Trainor has really paved a way for herself on The Four. Though she was well-known for her music before the show, I really feel like this is the first time America has had a chance to see her personality on display. She is sassy and honest, but also willing to take a risk on singers with potential. Many times, she is the only judge who wants to give a contestant the chance to challenge. This makes her endearing, especially next to the more harsh and critical judges on the panel. She’s still not afraid to speak her mind, but she is easily the most forgiving on The Four.
Plus, she’s amping up for something even bigger coming up. In an interview with Elvis Duran this week, Meghan revealed that she will be releasing her new album on August 31st! A win here could be the start of a huge push in her career moving forward.
DJ Khaled
DJ Khaled is a much different personality from the two here, which could work in his favor. He is widely known and liked for his presence on social media, he tells it like it is, and he is truly one-of-a-kind. You see him, you know who he is. Whereas Kelly and Meghan fill a similar space of being encouraging and likable, DJ Khaled doesn’t mind making enemies. He and Diddy really set the tone for the show as a whole. The Four is no nonsense and no mercy, setting it apart from other talent shows, and DJ Khaled exemplifies that. Plus, he’s just straight up entertaining!
My Prediction
So if I had to bet on the “Choice TV Personality” winner, I’d go with Kelly Clarkson from this bunch. But I wouldn’t rule any of them out! And we can’t forget Chrissy Teigen, Derek Hough, or Hailey Baldwin’s chances either. The competition will definitely be fierce for this one!
