So You Think You Can Dance is an American dance competition show that has been around since 2005. Over the years, the show has seen a variety of judges come and go, from Nigel Lythgoe to Mary Murphy to Adam Shankman to Mia Michaels. Now, with Matthew Morrison leaving the show, it’s time to look at some of the celebrities we would love to see as a judge on SYTYCD.
From award-winning actors and singers to professional dancers and choreographers, there are plenty of celebrities who could bring something special to the judging panel. Here are ten celebrities we would love to see as a judge on SYTYCD.
1. Jennifer Lopez
The multi-talented singer, actress, and dancer has been in the entertainment industry for over two decades and is no stranger to dance competitions. She was a judge on American Idol for several seasons and also served as a mentor on World of Dance.
2. Paula Abdul
The former pop star was one of the original judges on American Idol and she also served as a judge on X Factor USA. Her experience in judging singing competitions makes her an ideal choice for So You Think You Can Dance.
3. Justin Timberlake
The singer/actor/producer is an avid dancer who has performed in many music videos and live performances throughout his career. He also starred in the movie Friends With Benefits which featured some impressive dance sequences.
4. Derek Hough
The professional dancer/choreographer is best known for his appearances on Dancing With The Stars but he also served as a guest judge on SYTYCD during Season Ten in 2013. He would be an excellent addition to the judging panel if he ever returns as a permanent fixture.
5. Julianne Hough
Like her brother Derek, Julianne Hough is also a professional dancer/choreographer who appeared as a guest judge on SYTYCD during Season Ten in 2013 alongside her brother Derek Hough. She could easily transition into being a judge on SYTYCD if given the chance again.
6. Ciara
The singer has been performing since 2004 and she has released several hit singles throughout her career including “Goodies,” “Promise,” “Ride,” and “Level Up” among others. Her songs have been featured in Step Up 2: The Streets which featured some amazing dance sequences.
7. Pitbull
Pitbull is no stranger to dancing or performing onstage so it would be interesting to see him join the judging panel of SYTYCD. His experience with Latin music could bring something unique to the show if he were ever given the opportunity.
8. Jenna Dewan
Jenna Dewan began her career as a backup dancer before transitioning into acting roles such as Step Up which launched her career into stardom. She currently serves as the original host of World Of Dance so she definitely knows what it takes to be successful in this industry.
9. Ellen Degeneres
Ellen Degeneres is well known for being funny but she’s also quite talented when it comes to dancing. She often shows off her moves during various segments of her talk show. So it would be great if she were ever given an opportunity to join SYTYCD‘s judging panel.
10. Mandy Moore
Mandy Moore began her career as an actor before transitioning into music where she released several hit singles including “Candy,” which went double platinum in Australia. She’s also no stranger when it comes to dancing having starred in films such as A Walk To Remember, and Tangled. It would be great if Moore were ever given an opportunity to join the SYTYCD judging panel.
