Carrie Underwood has cemented her Karate Kid legacy. The former American Idol singer made a surprise cameo during the Season 4 finale of the Netflix revival. Underwood’s surprise appearance was a treat for her, as much as it was a treat for her fans, while Cobra Kai enthusiasts flocked to binge watch the latest Season.

In the episode, the singer’s character performs at the 51st All Valley Karate Tournament. Underwood covers Survivor’s “Moment of Truth,” the theme song from The Karate Kid. Being tasked with the role to perform such an iconic song, to one of the most iconic movies, shows the power of the Idol alum.

Season 3 of the hit Netflix show saw viewership reach 41 million. They had to go big if they wanted to keep their momentum going. The direct sequel series is one of the most popular shows on the streaming service currently. Underwood herself is a big fan of the show, which lead to her appearance.

“Just started watching #kobraKai on Netflix. Ummmm…it’s kinda awesome!” Underwood wrote in a 2020 tweet.

TIt wasn’t long before the show creators replied to Underwood. Cobra Kai’s star, Ralph Macchio, also replied to her tweet. After teasing her about butchering the name of the show, the wheels were in motion.

Carrie Underwood’s “Dream Come True”

Underwood’s love affair with Cobra Kai continued on Dec 31. Before the clock hit midnight, she posted that her New Year’s Eve plans consisted of binge watching the new season. The American Idol champion wore the well known Karate Kid robe. She also tagged the series co-lead, William Zabka, and told her fans that he stole the robe for her.

I am sure many of the country singer’s fans did not get the hint. Underwood later released a statement to discuss her excitement in joining the show:

“I grew up watching ‘Daniel’ and ‘Johnny’ and I can’t believe I actually get to be a small part of the legacy that is the Karate Kid.”

This odd pairing is proof that 2022 is going to be just as wild as last year.
