Caitlyn Jenner Files Paperwork to Run for Governor of California

Caitlyn Jenner, the reality television star and former contestant on The Masked Singer announced her plans Friday to run for Governor of California. Fans are now wondering if this is just another one of her publicity stunts?
Jenner Will Run as a GOP Candidate!
Jenner posted to Twitter that she sees herself as a “compassionate disruptor” who will campaign on “solutions” and “providing a roadmap back to prosperity” for the state.
“California has been my home for nearly 50 years,” she wrote. “I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision.”
Jenner is challenging Governor Newsom. He has recently come under a lot of public criticism for the way he has handled COVID-19 and may face an election recall in the near future.
It is still uncertain if and when a recall vote would happen. Organizers have exceeded the 1.5 million signatures needed to trigger such an election.
“This is Gavin Newsom’s California, where he orders us to stay home but goes out to dinner with his lobbyist friends,” Jenner said.
Does Jenner Have a Shot at Defeating Newsom?
A recent poll from the Public Policy Institute of California found that just 40% of voters in the state support a recall. More than half approve of Newsom’s performance.
Governor Newsom has never lost an election during his years as San Francisco mayor, California lieutenant governor, and now governor. On the Republican side, this could be a first chance at wining a statewide contest. They haven’t won since the 2006 gubernatorial re-election victory by Schwarzenegger, who was a moderate Republican.

On episode two of the current season of The Masked Singer, Jenner was unmasked as the Phoenix. After the reveal, she sings Kesha’s iconic 2009 Single “Tik Tok.”
The two minutes felt like an absolute fever dream, and the internet took notice.
