Blake Shelton Wishes Niall Horan a Happy Birthday, with a Funny Twist

Reading Time: 2 minutes
Former The Voice coach Blake Shelton took to social media on Wednesday to wish last season’s winning coach Niall Horan a happy birthday. The only problem is that he included a photo of someone who isn’t Horan. It’s exactly the kind of joke we would expect from Shelton.
Blake Shelton Wishes Niall Horan a Happy Birthday
On Wednesday, Horan turned 30 years old. Shelton took to X (formerly Twitter) to wish the former One Direction star a happy birthday. He wrote, “Happy birthday to my good friend @NiallOfficial! Have a great one buddy!”
Shelton added a photo to the post, purportedly of Horan. However, the photo was actually a shot of Downton Abbey actor Allen Leech. Like Horan, Leech is from Ireland. In the past, people have pointed how similar the two men look.
In 2019, Leech told James Corden that he’s flattered by the comparison, because Horan is 12 years younger than him. However, he joked that if people are mistaking Horan for him, the young star might need to “moisturize more.”
Horan didn’t respond to Shelton’s birthday message, but he did repost it on his own account. He also thanked everyone who wished him a happy birthday, writing, “Really appreciate all the love. 30?? Where did that time go?”

Horan Is Returning to The Voice This Fall
Last season, Horan joined The Voice as a coach and ended up winning the show with his artist Gina Miles. Horan will be returning to the show for Season 24, which is set to premiere on Monday, September 25, on NBC.
This season, Horan will join returning coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani, as well as new coach Reba McEntire, who will be taking over Shelton’s chair. On Wednesday, McEntire commented on an Instagram post from The Voice wishing Horan a happy birthday.
“Have a fancy birthday @niallhoran,” the country star wrote. “Lucky me, I get to sit next to this Irish gentleman every show!”
