One of the biggest celebrities ever revealed on The Masked Singerwas recently unmasked. In the show’s French rendition, singer Jason Derulo was unmasked earlier this week. Here’s his journey on the show, and who the panelists thought he was.
Jason Derulo Unmasked as Hedgehog on The Masked Singer
The Masked Singer France is currently airing their ninth season of the series. The show began airing on French network station TF1 on April 24, 2026. During their second episode on May 1, 2026, panelists were shocked to see a guest performer, dressed as a hedgehog, singing “My Love” by Justin Timberlake.
Throughout the performance, panelists were seen dancing and singing along to the song. Afterwards, the panelists called the singer “magnificent” and “incredible.”
“The real truth is that there are very few performers in the world who are capable of doing that,” panelist Kev Adams said (translated to English) about Derulo’s ability to dance the way he did during the number.
Kev Adams Uses Golden Prediction on Derulo
The panelist complimented the singer’s ability to keep the performance similar to the original singer, while singing it with a different voice. He explained that he is a fan of Derulo and recognizes the singer’s voice easily.
“He is one of the few singers that I recognize immediately,” Adams said (translated to English).
Adams went on to talk about how Derulo’s voice was important to his life, since it helped him through hard times, so he knew almost immediately that it was him. From there, he activated his Golden prediction.
This prediction method, which has yet to make it to America, features panelists writing down the identity of celebrities they’re 100% sure of. Various artists, like Vautour (Vulture), Alien, Biche (Doe), Husky, Robolapin (Roborabbit), Perle (Pearl), Cygne (Swan), Vache (Cow), and Porcelaine (Porcelain) were identified using Golden Predictions.
Other panelists admitted that they originally thought the singer was Chris Brown, Will.I.Am, or Justin Timberlake due to the story package, but knew it was Derulo from his high notes.
The Singer Travelled to France For The Show
Later in the episode, Hedgehog was unmasked as Jason Derulo. After his unmasking, there was a quick story package about the singer’s career in America. The story package featured Derulo’s rise to fame with “Whatcha Say,” “Talk Dirty,” “Wiggle,” “Swala,” “Savage Love,” and more.
“He is one of the most followed stars [on social media] in the world with over 178 million subscribers,” the show’s package said (translated to English). “An outstanding singer and performer, Jason Derulo has collaborated with the biggest stars on the planet.”
They then went on to explain his clue package, which wasn’t available to view online. Apparently clues pointed to his voice, his song that was featured as the anthem of the 2018 World Cup, and his ability to dance. His second clue package featured a party, as well as various figures like Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift.
“It’s my absolute pleasure to be here, y’all already know it’s the biggest show on earth,” he said.
Derulo then went on to discuss his song choice. He admited that he’s “never sung this song before” but it is one of his favorite songs.
“I thought it would be cool because it’s all in falsetto so I thought I would throw you all off a little bit,” he said. “But I didn’t think you all off.”
He finished out the questions saying that he knows very little French. He then started speaking French to the panelists. Then, Derulo began speaking directly to Adams, admitting he was worried the panelist wasn’t guessing him.
“When you were like ‘I know this voice so well, there was a song that is very near and dear to my heart and he sang this song’ I was like, well I hope it’s me because if it’s not, this is going to be embarrassing,” he said.
