Fans hoping to watch a new episode of Britain’s Got Talent Series 18 this weekend were disappointed to learn that the show had been taken off Saturday’s schedule, replaced by rugby. Viewers took to social media to share their outrage over the change.

BGT Fans Unhappy to Miss the Show This Week

Britain’s Got Talent Series 18 has been airing new episodes on Saturday nights over the past few weeks, on ITV1, ITVX, and STV. However, the show was taken off the schedule this past weekend to make room for coverage of the Six Nations Championship, a rugby competition.

As Hello! magazine reports, many BGT fans were angry about the choice to preempt their favorite show in favor of sports coverage. They shared their frustration on social media, with one fan writing on X (formerly Twitter), “Absolutely fuming that Britain’s Got Talent isn’t on. ITV have ruined my evening—bring it back!”

Another viewer posted, “How many channels are there, and they choose ITV1? #BGT taken off for rugby? Completely unnecessary.” Other users agreed that the rugby coverage could have been shown on other networks, rather than replacing a beloved program.

The Show Will Be Back Next Week

The official BGT account on X made sure to post an update about the show’s schedule on Saturday, assuring disappointed fans that Series 18 would continue next Saturday, March 22, at 7 pm on ITV1, ITVX, and STV.

That post inspired even more frustrated responses from followers, with one user writing, “Whoever made that decision wants the sack! So many more channels you could put the rugby on. Alienated a lot of your viewer [sic] on a Saturday night. Silly decision.”

Another fan called the schedule change an “absolute joke,” adding, “Best night of the week for TV and you take everything off for that sh*t.”

What do you think? Are BGT fans right to be angry that their favorite show was missing from this week’s schedule? Let us know in the comments below.
