During this week’s new episode of The Voice Season 30, coach Kelly Clarkson got emotional over the elimination of an artist on Riley Green’s team. Clarkson said she holds a “special place in my heart” for singer Brayden Howell.
Kelly Clarkson Gets Emotional Over The Voice Elimination
On Monday night, NBC aired the final round of Battles on The Voice Season 30. One matchup on Team Riley featured Brayden Howell and Cade Mower on a cover of “Wondering Why” by The Red Clay Strays. Green said it was “extremely difficult” to pick only one of them as the Battle winner.
Ultimately, Green chose to keep Cade on his team going into Cut Week. That meant that Brayden had to be eliminated. Before he left, 19-year-old Brayden recalled undergoing brain surgery a year before auditioning for The Voice. Brayden got emotional as he said, “This is just a testimony to God and what he can do for me.”
Kelly Clarkson could be seen wiping away tears after Brayden spoke. She shared that there was something “so special” about the young singer, adding that she holds “a little special place in my heart for him.” Unfortunately, she didn’t have a steal to use on him, but said she “would have stolen Brayden so hard and fast.”
Following his elimination from The Voice Season 30, Brayden Howell took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the experience. He wrote that he had “considered giving up this career in music,” but added that “God had other plans” for him.
“I just want to tell you how grateful I am for this opportunity that I’ve been given,” Brayden continued. “This show gave me purpose and the will to continue doing music for the rest of my life.”
Brayden went on to thank his Battle partner Cade Mower “for showing me that I have so much more potential with my voice,” along with his coach Riley Green “for believing in me.” He also thanked “all the coaches who had nothing but sweet things to say to me.”
