Ariana Grande, Kristin Chenoweth Share Adorable Throwback Picture
Earlier this week, Ariana Grande announced that her Battle advisor for Season 21 of The Voice would be none other than Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth. Grande gushed about her admiration for Chenoweth on Twitter.
As it turns out, the pair go way back. A fan shared a cute throwback photo of the two stars together when Grande was a kid, which both Chenoweth and Grande retweeted. The two have actually been friends for years.

A fan on Twitter posted two black and white photos side by side on Monday. In one, a very young Grande smiles for the camera beside Chenoweth. In the next, the pair pose together to promote the upcoming season of The Voice, with Grande hugging Chenoweth.
The fan captioned the tweet, “how it started / how it’s going.” Chenoweth retweeted the comparison, writing, “i’m crying. gulp.” She tagged Grande, who retweeted Chenoweth’s post. Grande first met Chenoweth when she was 9 years old, at a performance of the musical Wicked.
“Her Nana and mom brought her backstage and she goes, ‘I want to be you when I grow up,'” Chenoweth told Us Weekly last year. “And I was like, you’re so little … she came up to my waist. I felt like Heidi Klum. And then we stayed in touch.”
The pair appeared together in Hairspray Live! in 2016, and they joined forces on a cover of “You Don’t Own Me” for Chenoweth’s 2019 album For the Girls. Chenoweth says they’ve also gone on double dates together. She called Grande her “little nugget,” adding, “I love her so much.”
Grande Gushes About Chenoweth as Her Advisor
On Monday, this season’s The Voice coaches announced their advisors for the Battle round. Camila Cabello, Jason Aldean, and Dierks Bentley will assist John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton with their teams. Grande was especially excited to announce Chenoweth as her advisor.
In the announcement video, Grande called Chenoweth a “dear friend,” adding, “She’s so incredible, and I am so grateful.” Chenoweth told her she was “proud to see you teach,” calling Team Ariana “kick-butt.”
Grande also took to Twitter to share her excitement, writing that Chenoweth is “the absolute queen of vocals, of funny, of technique, of kindness, of brilliance and of my heart.” Considering how long they’ve known each other, we’re looking forward to seeing their dynamic.
