America’s Got Talent Season 15 premiere is almost here! The 2020 edition of the talent show is coming up fast and we all need a distraction during this pandemic. In this leaked audition, we meet Archie Williams. He was sentenced to life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit and after 37 years, DNA tests set him free.
Archie shared his heartbreaking story of being wrongfully incarcerated when a 30-year-old woman was rapped and stabbed in her home. “I knew I was innocent, I didn’t commit a crime but being a poor black kid, i didn’t have the ability to fight the state of Louisiana.
At the trail non of the finger prints matched Archie’s, 3 people testified that he was home but the state wanted somebody to pay. Archie was sentenced to life without the possibility or parole or probation.

“Freedom is of the mind, I went to prison but I never let my mind go to prison,” Archie told Terry Crews. When his mind would go to dark places in prison, Archie would pray and sing.

Archie’s solace in prison was AGT and he visualized being on the stage. In the audition clip, he sang an emotional rendition of “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” that had the audience and Heidi Klum in tears.
After the performance Simon said what we all felt in our hearts, “I would never ever listen to the song in the same way after you. It took on a whole different meaning for me.”
