‘American Idol’ Winner Maddie Poppe Releases New Song ‘Screw You a Little Bit’

American Idol Season 16 winner Maddie Poppe has just released a new song called “Screw You a Little Bit.” The singer first announced the song last week, and now it’s available to hear in full. Poppe has teased that she’s working on a “really really special project.”

“Screw you a little bit / For being such a gentleman / For the little piece of heaven / I’ll probably never get again,” Poppe sings to start the new track. “Screw you a little bit / For laughing at my jokes / For saying, ‘Text me when you get home’ / For making me feel wanted, but I’m still sleeping on my own.”
To mark the song’s release on Friday, Poppe shared on Instagram that she wrote the song the first day she met co-writers Adam Sickler and Willie Morrison, calling it “the first day of the start of a really really special project.”
“Grateful for this new chapter and this new music, but even more grateful for these two world class friends,” Poppe continued. “Love you both and proud of this song we made together.”
The new track follows last year’s singles “One That Got Away” and “Peace of Mind.” Hopefully this means the singer’s sophomore album is on the way soon.

Now that fans have heard Poppe’s new song, they’re sharing their praise with the singer. Many of them left comments on the song’s YouTube post, with one person writing, “Amazing, love the whole vibe of this. Your voice is impeccable- imagine being so talented that you can layer your own voice and it sounds like this.”
Another fan wrote, “Love whatever Maddie sings. But sad to think this may reflect her reality. She seems like such a lovely good person.”
Fans have been wondering about the status of Poppe’s relationship with American Idol runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson. They’ve been leaving comments on the singer’s Instagram account asking if the couple is still together. However, Poppe said in an Instagram Q&A a few months ago that she was “not ready to talk about it yet.”
