Evelyn Cormier and David Vázquez Zermeño from the TLC hit series, 90-Day Fiancé, have officially parted ways after four years of marriage. The couple’s original reality television premiere was on the fifth season of 90-Day Fiancé. From there, Evelyn went on to share her love of music to the world on American Idol.

Recently, Evelyn exposed that she is “divorcing David.” The singer has accused her soon-to-be ex-husband of being mentally and emotionally abusive. She noted that the relationship was overall “passionless, sexless, and narcissistic.” David completely denied the accusations, but has not spoken further about their divorce.

Evelyn originally shared their divorce on Instagram live, but is now sharing some details of her not-so happily ever after. Throughout the marriage this couple faced multiple hardships, beginning with their age. When they met, David was 27 and Evelyn was just 18. They received backlash for the age gap, but managed to make it work for a time.

The two were married in October 2017 and have had a pretty private relationship up to this point. Even though the couple had not separated until now, there were multiple separation speculations.

A lot of people thought the two broke up during Evelyn’s time on American Idol because she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring. Around this time is when people began noticing David’s absence on Evelyn’s social media pages. The singer claimed she was practicing a private lifestyle and her modeling career prevented her from wearing a ring.

Evelyn’s Life Amid Divorce

Fans of 90-Day Fiancé were surprised to see this announcement. The couple recently took part in 90 Day Fiancé: Love Games, which aired earlier this year. This spin-off series was created to bring couples back in a game show format. They compete head-to-head to see which couple knows each other the best. Even though her marriage may have seemed one way on camera, that’s not always the case.

“This is a good reminder that not everything you see on social media is reality,” said Evelyn. “This is a very difficult time for me and there is a long road of healing ahead, but I’m trusting God and the plan He has for me.”

We’re sure that this new chapter for Evelyn will feature some new tunes. Six weeks ago, she posted a photo with fellow American Idol alum Jacob Snider on their joint music Instagram account, Moxyblossom. Within their post, they promised new music and other big announcements. Even though this is a sad time for Evelyn personally, it might end up as an exciting time in her career.
