‘American Idol’ Alum David Oliver Willis Arrested For LSD Possession

American Idol alum David Oliver Willis was arrested on Feb. 11 after being pulled over in Lake County, Fla. The singer was pulled over for a malfunctioning headline, but was later arrested due to LSD possession. Upon the arrest, officers booked him for a third-degree felony.
Last friday, officers searched Willis’s vehicle allegedly due to smelling marijuana. In the search, police officers say they found a grinder and baggies containing multiple small squares of paper that tested positive for LSD.
David Oliver Willis Claims LSD Found in His Car Did Not Belong to Him
At the time, Willis admitted to smoking marijuana with a friend prior to driving, but claimed that he was not the owner of the LSD. Due to the drugs found in the car, and the fact that he was alone, officers arrested him and booked him with possession of a controlled substance (LSD). He was booked with a third-degree felony and is due in court next month.
David Oliver Willis is known for repeatedly appearing on American Idol. He was part of the series in seasons 12, 13, and 14. The singer auditioned for the series three times but made it the furthest on his first attempt.
In 2013, he made it into the Top 40, but did not make it into the semifinals. He released his debut single independently in 2017, and appears to still perform today in private bookings.
In late Jan, the singer shared on Instagram that he is looking forward to performing at special events in the new year. He has an upcoming private booking scheduled on March 13 in Tavares, Florida.
