America’s Got Talent Season 16 Golden Buzzer recipient Jimmie Herrod has been cast as Angel in an upcoming concert performance of the musical Rent at the Kennedy Center. The singer posted about the exciting news on his Instagram.
AGT Star Jimmie Herrod Cast in Upcoming Rent Concert
“This July, I’m picking up the drum sticks as Angel in The Kennedy Center’s world premiere symphonic concert version of the landmark musical RENT!” Herrod wrote in his announcement, calling it “unlike any performance before.”
The event will run from July 26 to July 28 at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington, D.C. This is apparently the first time the iconic musical (which first debuted on Broadway in 1996) will be accompanied by a full symphony.
According to Broadway World, the concert will also feature Ali Stroker as Maureen and Myles Frost as Benny. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. As Herrod pointed out in his post, both Stroker and Frost are Tony winners for their work on Broadway.
