‘AGT’ Judges React to Simon Cowell Losing His Voice Mid-Auditions
Reading Time: 2 minutes
As a long-time judge on America’s Got Talent, Simon Cowell has built a reputation for his sharp tongue and unapologetic feedback. However, in a surprising turn of events during AGT season 18, the tables were turned when Simon found himself facing an unexpected challenge – losing his voice. This unforeseen twist led to a hilarious and heartwarming reaction from his fellow judges.
AGT Judges React to Simon Cowell Losing His Voice
The short video begins with Howie Mandel sharing his thoughts on the importance of communication as the key to success in life. However, as the camera shifts to the host Terry Crews, he acknowledges Cowell’s unique problem – he has lost his voice. This unexpected turn of events sets the stage for a comical and endearing interaction.
With Cowell unable to speak, Sofia Vergara takes on the role of his translator. She shares her experience of trying to understand Cowell’s English accent, which is already challenging on a regular day. However, now she faces the added difficulty of interpreting his non-verbal cues without his voice.
Vergara humorously admits to “inventing” approximately 30 to 40 percent of what Cowell is trying to convey, given the communication barrier. The result is a series of funny and exaggerated interpretations of Cowell’s gestures.
The plot thickens as the camera cuts to Cowell fiddling with a tablet, presumably a device provided to assist him in communicating during the show. Cowell presses a button on the tablet, and a pre-recorded voice commands Mandel to “shut up.” This moment of tech-enabled humor adds to the entertainment factor on one of the episodes.
The Show Received Some Recent Backlash
As AGT season 18 continues to captivate audiences with its exceptional talent, fans eagerly anticipate episode nine, set to air on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. After a special look at Cowell’s most memorable auditions in episode eight, the upcoming episode also promises more auditions featuring a diverse array of novelty acts taking the stage.
However, the show has faced some backlash from fans regarding the special flashback episode. In this episode, Cowell revisits his top 16 most memorable auditions alongside Crews. Some fans expressed frustration on Twitter, feeling that the episode was a “waste of time” and preferring a full episode of new auditions instead.
Despite the fan backlash, the excitement for Episode 9 remains undiminished. Viewers can catch the latest acts and surprises on AGT season 18, airing on NBC at 8:00 p.m. ET. For those unable to watch it live, the episode will also be available for streaming on Peacock starting from August 2 onwards.
