Fans of Britain’s Got Talent are dying to know what Series 3 star Jamie Pugh is up to in 2026. The opera singer first joined the series in 2009, when he was an undiscovered singer, working as a van driver and pizza delivery man.
His Britain’s Got Talent Audition, Controversy
In 2009, a 38 year old Jamie Pugh stepped on the Britain’s Got Talent stage for the first time. Before the performance started, Jamie explained that he drives a van during the day and delivers pizza at night to make ends meet. He also said that the BGT stage was the biggest he’d ever performed on.
Jamie went on to perform “Bring Him Home” by Les Miserables. He blew away the judges with this audition, even if his nerves were very visible. After the fact, innocent audition became a root of a controversy. The Sun alleged that Jamie had actually performed on a stage of equivalent size.
According to the news story, The Sun obtained a video of Jamie singing a set of Rod Stewart songs as part of a group at Her Majesty’s West End Theatre. Jamie denied these allegations, explaining that performing as part of a group is different than performing solo.
The singer ultimately ended up being eliminated in the semi-finals. In this round he performed ‘The Impossible Dream (The Quest)’ originally by Luther Vandross from the musical Man of La Mancha, but his nerves were too much for the judges. Amanda Holden even buzzed the performance because she was distracted by his nerves.
What is He Up to in 2026?
Britain’s Got Talent fans will be happy to know that Jamie is still performing in modern day. Even though he had various commercial failure singles and an album, he’s still working toward living his dream. He is currently living in the Greater Newport Area and performing around there.
Jamie recently shared a video of him singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables. He then went on to celebrate the video bringing in nearly 60 thousand views.
