Carrie Ann Inaba on 'Dancing With The Stars' 2025

Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba recently shared how she deals with hate from the show’s fans. Inaba revealed the book she used to read before filming the show which “made it easier.”

How Carrie Ann Inaba Deals with DWTS Hate

In a recent interview with Woman’s World, Carrie Ann Inaba shared that she “used to read The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz every time before I stepped out on stage” to film Dancing with the Stars, in order to deal with negativity from fans.

“It’s really important to be honest with myself with the world and have integrity with my words, and so that has made it easier to read the comments,” Inaba said. “I also think that because I’m giving my opinion, I believe I have to be open to other people’s opinion, because it’s all subjective, right? And I think that that’s okay.”

Inaba went on to say that she “felt less alone” during the most recent season of the show, since “everybody was getting negative comments, not just me.” As she explained, “Whereas in the past it was only me, and oftentimes I do think that’s because I’m a woman. I do think that it’s because I’m not talking necessarily just about the steps—I’m talking sometimes about more ambiguous things, but I do talk from experience.”

The judge went on to say that she has “a lot of confidence in what I’m saying” to the show’s contestants, adding of her style of critique, “I like honest, brutal truth, so that’s what I give.”

Inaba Misses Late Judge Len Goodman

During her interview with Woman’s World, Inaba also took a moment to remember former DWTS judge Len Goodman, who sadly passed away in 2023. Both Inaba and Goodman joined the show in its first season back in 2005.

“He was my buddy, I miss him so much,” Inaba said of Goodman. “What I loved about Len is, we would go at it sometimes, but there was always a mutual respect. Sometimes I’d win an argument, sometimes he’d win an argument, but we’d always high five in between, because it’s okay to have different opinions.”
