Alexia Jayy wins 'The Voice Battle of Champions'

The Voice Battle of Champions has officially concluded. On Tuesday, April 14, the show crowned its Season 29 winner, Alexia Jayy. Relive her journey on the series now, from her blind audition to her Finale performances.

Her Three-Chair Turn Audition

In Alexia’s iconic audition, she sang “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” by Carole King. She impressed the coaches, earning a three-chair turn. When coaches began fighting for the singer Adam Levine admitted that both John Legend and Kelly Clarkson may make the most sense for her, but it may be worthwhile for her to consider his team to go all the way in the competition.

From there, Clarkson discussed Alexia’s role as a mom as well as her following her singing dreams. The coach then went on to mention that she sang the same song while on American Idol. Then, Legend asked Alexia’s son who her favorite singer was. He responded saying Maroon Five, so clearly this choice was already made for Alexia.

The Singer Impressed in the Battle Round

On Team Adam, Alexia was paired with Moses G for the Battle Rounds. Together, they performed “Nightshift” by Commodores. After the performance, their coach was seen yelling “that’s what I’m talking about!”

Other coaches told Alexia that her rasp on her voice was absolutely perfect in the performance. Legend was even jealous that she didn’t pick him as her coach. Since she shined in the performance, Alexia won the battle. The pair was so well placed together that Moses G was stolen after the performance by Legend.

Kelly Clarkson said Alexia Would Win After Knockout Round

In the next round, Alexia was paired with rock singer Bay Simpson. He sang “One Headlight” by The Wallflowers before Alexia’s performance of “You Give Good Love” by Whitney Houston.

After the performance, Clarkson is seen telling Levine “she’s going to win.” He then, chose Alexia as the winner of the Knockout.

Super Fans, The Voice Alumni Vote Her Through Semifinals

In the second-to-last round of the competition, Alexia performed “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)” by Aretha Franklin. After this performance, the in-audience Super Fans and The Voice alumni voted her into the Final Four of the competition.

The Singer Put Clarkson in Tears With Finale Adele Rendition

In the Finale, Alexia performed two different songs. She kicked off the night with “Lady Marmalade” by Patti LaBelle.

She then sang “One and Only” by Adele. This rendition put Clarkson into tears!

She Sings Maroon Five Hit With Her Coach

Finally, Alexia had the opportunity to perform with her coach, Adam Levine. Knowing her son’s love of Maroon Five, it’s no surprise that Alexia chose to perform “Sunday Morning” with her coach. This was a great coach performance overall.

From there, Alexia was announced as the winner of the competition. After her victory, it was announced that Levine would be returning as a coach in Season 30. The Voice is expected to return to NBC in the fall.
