Shania Twain Presses ‘Canada’s Got Talent’ Golden Buzzer for Impressive Singer

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Canada’s Got Talent returned on Tuesday night for a new episode of the 2025 season, as the judges watched auditions from even more talented acts. During the show, new judge Shania Twain pressed her first-ever Golden Buzzer for an impressive singer named Jacob Lewis.
Jacob Lewis Earns Shania Twain’s CGT Golden Buzzer
Jacob Lewis introduced himself to the judges as an oil and gas industry worker from Newfoundland who shares 4-year-old twin sons with his wife. He shared that he likes to sing in his car on his way to and from work.
For his audition, Jacob performed “Bed of Roses” by Bon Jovi, showing off a gritty voice and an amazing range. Shania Twain really got into the performance, mouthing along to the lyrics and swaying her arms as Jacob sang.
After the performance, Twain told Jacob that he has “such a humility about you,” adding that he “came out of yourself” when performing. “You rock!” she shouted before hitting the Golden Buzzer for him, sending gold confetti raining down on the stage.
Thanks to Twain, Jacob will now go straight into the next round of the competition and earn a $25,000 prize from CIBC.

Howie Mandel Pulls April Fools’ Day Prank
Tuesday’s new episode of CGT happened to fall on April Fools’ Day, and Howie Mandel couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play a prank on his fellow judges for the occasion. He enlisted the help of a young performer named Remy Smith for the awkward stunt.
The 10-year-old stepped on stage and said he would be performing comedy. While he was telling his jokes, Mandel remarked to the panel that he thought Remy’s parents wrote his jokes for him, at one point saying, “I hate this.”
The other judges were embarrassed when Mandel stopped Remy’s performance and asked if his parents wrote his material for him. They were shocked when Mandel said of Remy’s audition, “I think it was bad.” He even tried to get judge Katherine Ryan to agree with him.
Before long, Mandel revealed that it was all an April Fools’ joke, and that Remy is actually an actor. The panel was mortified. Judge Kardinal Offishall actually walked off the set, joking, “I quit!” Shania Twain said she had felt “embarrassed to be an adult.”
Singer Vows to Donate Prize Money If She Wins
During the new episode, 75-year-old Valerie Boyle took the stage to sing. Before her performance, she said she wanted to win the million-dollar prize for an organization called Community Living, which has supported people like her son who have intellectual disabilities.
For her audition, Valerie performed “Send in the Clowns” by Stephen Sondheim, showing off a passionate voice that brought tears to the judges’ eyes. The panel and audience gave Valerie a standing ovation, making her emotional.
Katherine Ryan called Valerie “such a star,” while Shania Twain praised her sense of humor. All four judges gave her a “yes” vote to move on in the competition. What did you think of this week’s performances? Let us know in the comments below.
